Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will dedicate to the nation the National Customs and GST Museum ‘Heritage’ at Panaji, Goa, as part of the Finance Ministry’s prestigious Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav prestigious week celebrations today.
The heritage site is located in the famous Blue Building of Panaji on the banks of river Mandvi, a PIB release said. It is a two storey building. Which was earlier known as Alfandega during the Portuguese rule, is 400 years old.
The Press Information Bureau release said that the heritage is a one of its kind museum in the country which not only displays the artifacts confiscated by the Indian Customs across the country but also the basic customs procedures for the knowledge of the general public. it shows.
It further states that the handwritten manuscript of Ain-i-Akbari, replica of Amin pillars, confiscated metal and stone artifacts, ivory objects and wildlife objects are notable among its exhibits.
Recently it added the GST Gallery, which showcases the journey of becoming the most historic indirect tax reform of New India i.e. Goods and Services Tax.
