new Delhi. North East Delhi MP Manoj Tiwari on Saturday demanded a judicial inquiry into the Gokalpuri fire incident in which seven people, including an 11-year-old child, lost their lives. “Keeping in mind the sensitivity of the entire incident, a judicial inquiry should be conducted and an immediate relief of Rs 1 crore should be announced to the next of kin of the deceased,” Tiwari demanded.
Seven people, including an 11-year-old child, were burnt to death after a massive fire broke out in the slum area of Gokalpuri village of the city at 12 o’clock last night. In addition to the deaths, at least 30 shanties with their belongings turned to ashes.
Expressing deep grief, Tiwari said that he stands firmly with the families affected by this fire incident. “Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal should make proper arrangements and give proper compensation to all the victims,” he said.
The MP further informed that he has contacted the concerned authorities and directed them to make proper arrangements for relief and rescue operations for all the victims.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Kejriwal has also expressed grief over the incident. “Heard the sad news early in the morning. I will visit the spot and personally meet the affected people,” the chief minister wrote on Twitter.
