Chennai. The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) has said that searches conducted at the premises of former minister and AIADMK leader SP Velumani have unearthed gold jewellery, cash and documents relating to cryptocurrency investments. DVAC said in a statement on Tuesday evening that 11.5 kg of gold, Rs 84 lakh in cash and Rs 35 lakh in cryptocurrency deposits were seized from the premises of the former minister.
DVAC said it raided 59 premises belonging to the former minister and his associates. This includes his home district, including 42 locations in Coimbatore, two locations in Tiruppur, four locations in Salem, nine locations in Chennai, one each in Namakkal, Krishnagiri and Tiruppattur districts of Tamil Nadu, and one location in Palakkad, Kerala.
Besides gold, cash and cryptocurrency investment details, documents on land assets and silver ornaments worth 118.05 kg have also been seized.
Several mobile phones, laptops and other electronic devices and modern gadgets have been recovered from the premises of the former minister.
