A special honor is being given to Neeraj Chopra, who created history by winning a gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics. Neeraj, who brought laurels to the country across the world from the Tokyo Olympics, will be honored with the ‘Param Vishisht Seva Medal’ (PVSM) tomorrow i.e. on Republic Day.
Let us tell you that ‘Param Vishisht Seva Medal’ i.e. PVSM is a medal of the Indian Army. It started in 1960. This medal is given to people who have made incredible achievements in the field of peace and service. On this Republic Day, Neeraj Chopra will be awarded the Most Vishisht Seva Medal. All ranks of Indian Armed Forces personnel including Territorial Army, Auxiliary and Reserve Forces, Nursing Officers and other members of Nursing Services and other legally constituted Armed Forces are eligible to receive this award. The Vishisht Seva Medal was originally instituted on 26 January 1960 as ‘Vishisht Seva Medal, Class I’. Its name was changed on January 27, 1961.
Let us tell you that at present, the cooperation of the army has been the most important behind the success of Neeraj Chopra, posted in the Rajput Rifles of the Indian Army. In 2015, the Rajputana Rifles team tested Neeraj Chopra’s skills. At that time Neeraj was only 17 years old. The Rajputana Rifles Regiment immediately assisted the athletics coach Chopra to join the army. Neeraj then created history by throwing an 86.48m javelin at the IAAF Under-10 Championships in Poland and the army immediately recruited Neeraj. Since then, the entire cost of Neeraj Chopra’s training and treatment has been borne by the army.
Talking about Neeraj’s performance in the Tokyo Olympics, India’s 121 year wait to win a medal in athletics at the Olympics ended with Neeraj winning the gold medal in the javelin throw. Neeraj threw a throw of 87.58 meters in the final and hit the gold straight. Neeraj’s first reaction after winning the gold medal was that it is a proud moment for me and the country. In this, Prime Minister Modi made a video call to congratulate Neeraj, who won the first gold medal of Tokyo Olympics for India.
It is worth noting that Neeraj Chopra, the javelin thrower who won the gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics 2020, is once again seen in action. He has started training again after a long break to win gold in the Paris Olympics. His coach shared a special video of the practice session on Instagram, in the caption of which he wrote that there is no substitute for hard work and hard work. He attended workout sessions in the gym.
