New Delhi. Swedish music streaming platform Spotify has launched a new program that will lead emerging podcasters from around the world, including India, and help them grow their audiences. The company launched the ‘Radar Podcasters’ program in 15 global markets including India. It takes its name and format from ‘radar’, which supports up-and-coming artists. In addition, Spotify also announced an initial slate of podcasters who will be spotted with the Radar program.
The first three podcasts selected from India to be a part of this slate include ‘Anurag Meenas Verma,’ ‘Chumma Conversations with Satshya’ and ‘Getting Lost with Archit and Shireen: All About Food’. Spotify in India will focus on a different local language every three months. “The next round of this initiative will focus on Tamil, which is one of the fastest growing languages on Spotify for both music and podcasts in India,” the company said in a statement.
The event will highlight more than 40 creators from around the world in countries where podcasting continues to grow. Each quarter, Spotify’s podcast team will select three up-and-coming creators to spotlight in participating markets.
“We will focus on creators with shows that demonstrate authenticity and inclusivity, give us a reason to keep listening and educate and entertain,” the company said.
