The case of Murtaza Abbasi, accused of attacking the security personnel posted at Gorakhnath temple, has been transferred to the special court. Preparations are on to shift him to Lucknow Central Jail this week. Murtaza is better than before after hand operation. Now he is insisting on meeting the family members. However, no one from home has reached the jail to meet him. There is a facility to talk to the jail by phone, but action has been taken against Murtaza under the UAPA, so without the permission of the district administration, the jail administration has refused to talk to the family members.
Ahmed Murtaza Abbasi has been kept in the high security barracks of Gorakhpur Jail. The ATS, which is investigating the matter, has taken action against him under UAPA. Earlier, Mortaza was taken on remand for questioning by the ATS till April 16. After the completion of the interrogation, he was produced in the court on 16 April, from where he was sent to 14 days judicial custody.
Now his case will be heard in the special court. In such a situation, this case has been transferred from Gorakhpur Court to Lucknow Special Court. The next hearing is being said to be held on 30th April in the special court itself. According to ATS sources, he will be transferred from Gorakhpur Jail to Lucknow Central Jail this week. Gorakhpur Jail Administration has been informed about this and preparations have been started for its shifting. He will be taken to Lucknow amidst heavy security.

On March 31, intelligence agencies released a list of 16 suspects, in which Ahmed Murtaza Abbasi of Gorakhpur was also named and instructions were issued to keep an eye on him.
On April 2, two members of ATS reached his residence on Gorakhpur Civil Line to investigate Murtaza.
On April 2, Murtaza got information that ATS was looking for him, after that he left home and fled to Nepal.
On April 3, at 7.24 pm, Murtaza attacked the policemen guarding the Gorakhnath temple with a sharp weapon.
On being caught on the night of April 3, the police registered two cases against him.
On April 4, he was produced in the court and took custody remand.
Case was transferred to ATS on April 5, ATS took Mortaza in custody.
On 11 April, the ATS again applied in the court and appealed to extend his remand for five days.
On 16 April, Mortaza’s remand was completed and presented in the court.
