In view of less rainfall in the state, the Haryana government on Thursday approved a proposal to give farmers a bonus of Rs 2,000 per acre for their Kharif crops. A decision to this effect was taken at a state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini here. Talking to the media after the meeting, Saini said the state has received less rainfall in May, June and July this year as compared to the same period last year, reports Bhasha.
Farmers are having to spend more money on crops
According to the news, the Chief Minister said that due to less rain this year, farmers have to spend more on crops. He said that we will give bonus on all Kharif crops including fruits, flowers and vegetables. Farmers will be given Rs 2,000 per acre as bonus. Saini said that even if a farmer has less than one acre of land, he will be given Rs 2,000. He said that I am also a farmer’s son, I understand their pain.
You must register yourself by August 15
The Chief Minister said that farmers will have to register themselves on the ‘Meri Fasal, Mera Byora’ portal by August 15. A few days ago, the state cabinet approved a proposal to buy 10 more crops at the minimum support price (MSP). Apart from this, the Chief Minister also announced waiver of outstanding canal water irrigation charges. These announcements have been made ahead of the Haryana Assembly elections to be held later this year.
The Haryana government has recently launched the Moong Seed Subsidy Scheme in which farmers will be given a subsidy of 75% on the purchase of moong seeds. The main purpose of the government to launch this scheme is to meet the increasing demand of moong in the market and to increase the income of farmers.
