The present Indian government has prepared a draft for India Telecom Bill 2022. According to media reports, a draft has also been made available on the website by the Department of Telecommunications. For this, suggestions have also been sought from the department. Apart from this, it is being told that many new things have also been included in it. This bill is being brought to control the British-era law.
What’s in the new bill?
According to the news being received in media reports, in this new bill, important and everyday use apps like WhatsApp, Telegram, Skype and Zoom Google Duo will now have to be licensed. Which simply means that now these companies will have to get a license to provide their services in India like telcos. This bill will also be applicable for OTT. After this, it is being speculated that fees may also have to be paid for these apps of this bill. At present, it is not yet known when and how it will get its license.
