New Delhi: The appointments of governors for several states were announced late Saturday night in the national capital. A press release has also been issued by the Rashtrapati Bhavan, which gives information about the new appointment of all the governors. According to the press release, Laxman Prasad Acharya has been appointed as the Governor of Assam and he has also been given additional charge of Manipur. Gulab Chand Kataria has been appointed as the Governor of Punjab. According to the press release, Laxman Prasad Acharya has replaced Gulab Chand Kataria. Apart from this, Gulab Chand Kataria has also been appointed as the Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh.
Banwarilal Purohit’s resignation accepted
The press release said that President Draupadi Murmu has accepted the resignation of Banwarilal Purohit from the post of Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh. According to the release, “Sikkim Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya has been appointed Governor of Assam and has also been given additional charge of Governor of Manipur.” Jharkhand Governor C P Radhakrishnan has been appointed Governor of Maharashtra. Santosh Kumar Gangwar will be the new Governor of Jharkhand in place of Radhakrishnan.
Jishnu Dev Varma will be the new Governor of Telangana
The statement said that Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde has been appointed as the Governor of Rajasthan. Apart from this, Jishnu Dev Verma will be the Governor of Telangana while Om Prakash Mathur will be the new Governor of Sikkim. The release said that Ramen Deka has been appointed as the Governor of Chhattisgarh and CH Vijayshankar as the Governor of Meghalaya. The statement said that K. Kailashnathan has been appointed as the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry. This appointment will be effective from the date he assumes charge. The statement said that these appointments will be effective from the date they assume charge of their respective offices.
