With the increase in heat, there is a serious water crisis in many areas of Delhi. Long queues can be seen here. This is the Budh Nagar area of Delhi. Due to the water crisis, people’s business is also getting affected. Some people have complained that if water had come at 6:30 in the morning, it would have been easier for people going out for work. Some people said that water comes from tankers like this throughout the year, but in the summer season, the queue becomes a little longer.
People said that water consumption increases in summer. Some women said that they come from far away to get water and they take water by rickshaw. The water that comes to their homes is not potable, so they come to get drinking water from this tanker.
Dirty water coming from taps
This area is of Budh Nagar in Delhi. Very dirty water is coming here. A woman showed water filled from the tap. Black and white dirt is floating in the water. People talked while showing vessels filled with water. They say that this is the condition of water for the last two-three months. Water tanker driver Ramanand Yadav says that when people come here, there is a long queue. Four tankers come in the morning. One comes here and three go inside. The crowd increases here in summer.
Anil Sharma, a person standing in line for water, said that his turn comes in 10 to 15 minutes. The crowd is always the same. Water is needed here. There is a pipeline in the houses but there is no potable water there. Jamila, a person standing in line for water, said that piped water comes outside but there are insects in it. In such a situation, most of the people come here to fill water from the tanker. We come from a long distance. We fill water and take it in a rickshaw and its fare is ₹30. There is a lot of crowd. It would be better if water comes early in the morning so that people who go to work can go to work on time.
Pipeline laid before elections
Another person said that I am saying that it is okay to stand in queues but the problem here is that some people cut the queues of people standing in queue and take water. At another place in Budhnagar, a one-two inch water pipeline was laid before the elections, but as soon as the elections were over, its work also stopped. Neither water comes from that pipeline nor is anyone coming to start it.
People say that this line was laid for votes and after the elections no one is coming to take care of it. Meanwhile, a person who works as a guard brought a bucket full of water from home, in which he showed that the water coming out is like sewer. He said that he works as a guard and earns ₹ 12000. If I have to buy water from outside even for drinking, then how will I manage.
