GST Council Meeting: From staying in hotel to eating paneer will cost more tax

Canned curd, paneer, honey, papad, lassi, buttermilk will now become expensive. On the other hand, there has been talk of levying 12 percent GST on hotel rooms below Rs 1000 per night. At the same time, 18 percent GST will also be levied on the fees charged by banks for issuance of cheques. There is talk of increasing the GST on solar water heaters from 5 percent to 12 percent.
