GST Council Meeting: From staying in hotel to eating paneer will cost more tax

GST Council Meeting, The meeting of the GST Council under the chairmanship of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will continue in Chandigarh today. A day earlier on Tuesday, many important decisions were taken in the GST meeting. In the meeting held on the first day, many things have been brought under the ambit of GST. Canned curd, paneer, honey, papad, lassi, buttermilk will now become expensive. On the other hand, there has been talk of levying 12 percent GST on hotel rooms below Rs 1000 per night. At the same time, 18 percent GST will also be levied on the fees charged by banks for issuance of cheques. There is talk of increasing the GST on solar water heaters from 5 percent to 12 percent.
