Ahmedabad. Danish Qureshi, leader of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) in Gujarat, has been arrested by the Ahmedabad cybercrime team for making derogatory remarks on Hindu deities. The police said that the sentiments of Hindus have been hurt by his tweet. JM Yadav, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Cyber Crime, told the media that his team traced a tweet posted by handler Ett. Danish Qureshi. The content of the tweet hurt the sentiments of the majority community and hence the team started a technical search for the Twitter handler.
In his tweet, Danish had questioned the Shivling found in Gyanvapi Mosque in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. He made derogatory remarks on this.
The technical team of the police tracked down Danish Qureshi from Shahpur and arrested him. A case has been registered against them under various sections for outraging communal harmony and hurting religious sentiments, the official said, adding that separate complaints have been filed against them at Naroda and Paldi police stations.
Condemning the post, Hindu monk Dr Jyotinath Swamy has demanded strict action against the AIMIM leader and also demanded that Danish should publicly apologize to the Hindu community.
