New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is known for breaking and fabricating stereotypes and traditions. On Thursday also PM Modi started a new tradition. Till now all the PMs have been addressing the countrymen in the morning from the ramparts of Red Fort on Independence Day. PM Modi addressed the nation tonight from the Red Fort. Let us inform that this address of Modi has been made on the occasion of 400th Prakash Parv of the ninth Guru of Sikhs, Tegh Bahadur. Let us inform that PM Modi had decided to celebrate Prakash Parv with pomp last year. PM Modi also released a postage stamp and coin on Guru Tegh Bahadur here. PM Modi said in his address that, I heartily welcome all of you in this grand event dedicated to the 400th Prakash Parv of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib. With this Narendra Modi has become the first Prime Minister of India to deliver a speech at the Red Fort at sunset.
Important points of PM Modi’s address-
New thinking, continuous hard work and cent percent dedication, this is the identity of our Sikh society even today. This is the resolve of the country today in the nectar festival of independence. We have to be proud of our identity. We have to be proud of the local, we have to build a self-reliant India.
India has never posed a threat to any country or society. Even today we think for the welfare of the whole world. When we talk about self-reliant India, we keep the progress of the whole world in front of the goal.
Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji is for us a guide of self-realization as well as a living form of India’s diversity and unity. Therefore, when a crisis arises in Afghanistan, the question arises of bringing back the versions of our holy Guru Granth Sahib, the Government of India exerts its full force.
Last year itself, our government decided to celebrate Veer Bal Diwas on 26th December in memory of the great sacrifice of Sahibzadas. Our government is also making continuous efforts to connect the pilgrimages of Sikh tradition.
At that time there was a great hope for India to save its identity in the form of Guru Tegh Bahadur ji. At that time Guru Tegh Bahadur ji, becoming ‘Hind di Chadar’, stood like a rock in front of Aurangzeb’s tyrannical thinking.
This Red Fort has been a witness to many important periods. This fort has also seen the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur ji and has also tested the courage of those who died for the country.
In the 75 years after independence, the echo of many dreams of India has reverberated from here. Therefore, this event being held at the Red Fort during the Amrit Festival of Independence has become very special.
On this auspicious occasion, I bow at the feet of all ten gurus. Hearty greetings to all of you, to all the countrymen and to all the people who have faith in Guruvani all over the world, on the occasion of Prakash Parv.
Earlier in 2019 we also got the opportunity to celebrate 550th Prakash Parv of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and 350th Prakash Parv of Guru Gobind Singh Ji in 2017. I am happy that today our country is moving forward on the ideals of our Gurus with full devotion.
The peace I got by listening to Shabad Kirtan now is difficult to express in words. Today I have also had the privilege of releasing a commemorative postage stamp and coin dedicated to the Guru. I consider it a special grace of our Gurus.

Let us tell you that Guru Tegh Bahadur was born in the year 1621 in Amritsar. In the year 1675, a group of Kashmiri Pandits approached him and said that the then Mughal emperor Aurangzeb was forcing him to convert to Islam. On this, Guru Tegh Bahadur said that go to Aurangzeb and tell him that if he makes me accept Islam, then we too will become Muslims. After this Guru Tegh Bahadur went to Delhi. Where Aurangzeb committed all the atrocities on him and his companions. After which he was martyred on a mound in front of the Red Fort. The place where Guru Tegh Bahadur gave his martyrdom in Delhi is now the Shishganj Gurdwara.
