– Case of conversion tax in Arya Samaj temple of Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh
Gwalior Court News: Gwalior. New Zealand Representative. Gwalior Bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court heard the conversion case in Arya Samaj Mandir located in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. On Wednesday, the representative of Arya Samaj Mandir did not appear in the court to answer. In this regard, the court has made Arya Samaj Vivah Mandir Trust’s block Kavinagar Ghaziabad as a respondent in the petition. The temple has to answer how the marriage was done by converting. The petition will be heard again on March 14.
Rahul alias Golu, a resident of Pichhore in Shivpuri district, ran away from home on 17 September 2019 and had a love marriage at Arya Samaj Mandir in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. The girl’s father lodged a missing complaint at Pichhore police station. After two years it came back home. The boy appeared in the police station, the police registered a case of rape and sent him to jail. When the girl refused to go with her father, she was sent to Nari Niketan. Rahul got bail in High Court. After getting bail, he filed a habeas corpus petition to take back his wife. It was told on his behalf that both the marriages were done in Arya Samaj temple. The girl was converted to religion before marriage. Certificates of marriage were also produced, which the court took cognizance of. The answer has been sought from Arya Samaj Mandir. The petitioner appealed to withdraw his petition, which the court did not accept. This matter has been taken suo motu cognizance. The petitioner’s advocate had also objected and said that he cannot plead. After this objection, the counsel for the petitioner has changed. Suresh Agarwal appeared on behalf of the petitioner. Making Arya Samaj Mandir a party, it has sought a reply by March 14.
