Unique recognition of Ugranath Dham of Sukhsena in Purnia district. For 200 years people have been worshiping Mahadev and performing Havan for rain. There is a belief related to Ugranath Dham, Havan brings good rain.
Purnia. On one hand, people are troubled by the scorching heat and humidity. Purnia, famous as Mini Darjeeling, is also scorching at 45 degree temperature. At the same time, in the very ancient Baba Ugranath Dham of cultural heritage Sukhsena village of Mithilanchal, 45 kilometers from Purnia district headquarters, people are worshiping Mahadev and worshiping Lord Indra for rain. Actually, this tradition has been going on for the last 200 years in the famous ancient form of Ugranath Dham of Sukhsena village. Here every year in the month of Baishakh, people of the entire village come together and worship Mahadev in Ugranath Dham with rituals. It is believed that there is good rainfall in this area till the puja and havan is over. This time too four days of Mahadev worship has started. In which a resolution has been taken to worship 1.25 lakh Mahadev.
It is said that this temple is very famous and the wishes of hundreds of people have been fulfilled here. For the purpose of public welfare, people worship Mahadev in this temple every year in the month of Vaishakh. The entire villagers are together performing this puja for four days. At the end of the puja, havan is performed by the pundits. Then food is served to Kumaris (girls) and Brahmins. They pray to Mahadev and Lord Indra that it rains soon so that farmers can do farming and people can also get relief from the heat.
Puja Committee Chairman Shardanand Mishra, members Santosh Jha, Suman Jha, Vinod Jha, Anil Jha, Kedar Jha, Pandit Jaiprakash Jha and Prakash Jha said that Baba Ugranath is worshiped for centuries under the Kadam tree in Sukhsena village. It is believed that every year there is good rain with the completion of puja and havan. Due to which people are able to do farming.
Puja Committee Chairman Shardanand Mishra said that puja is done for public welfare. Here Maa Durga, Maa Tara, Kabutara Sthan, Vishhari Sthan, Krishna Sthan, Nath Baba Sthan are present along with Baba Ugranath. On which the people of this area have immense faith and devotees from far away places reach Sukhsena for darshan and worship.zzx xz
