65 percent of people die due to heat stroke if they do not receive timely treatment. In heat stroke, the patient’s body temperature reaches above 104 degrees Fahrenheit.
As the heat is increasing, the temperature is going above 45 degrees Celsius, the risk of heat stroke is also increasing. Not only people who are exposed to the sun, but people who protect themselves from it are also becoming victims of heat stroke or heat related illness due to some mistake. Recently, Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan also had to be admitted to the hospital due to dehydration. If heat stroke happens once and treatment is not received on time, then in about 65 percent of the cases the patient dies. But you will be surprised to know that your clothes can also be responsible for heat stroke.
Recently, the Union Health Ministry has issued standard guidelines for emergency cooling and prevention of heat-related diseases. The team that made these guidelines was led by Dr. Ajay Chauhan, Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, Delhi. Dr. Chauhan says that according to the guidelines, the color of your clothes can also be responsible for heat stroke. Along with this, it is also important to keep two other things in mind to avoid heat stroke.

Do you bathe in boiling tap water in summer? It causes so much harm that you will be scared to stop bathing!
Do not ignore these 3 things, you can become a victim…
. Dark coloured clothes
Dr. Ajay says that the most important thing to avoid heat stroke is the colour of the clothes you are wearing. It doesn’t matter much whether you are wearing cotton or not, but if the colour is dark then you are more likely to be at risk of heat stroke. This is because dark coloured clothes, especially black and red, directly absorb the heat of the sun, due to which the heat is felt more. This is the reason why black colour is used to absorb solar energy. Often people are roaming around wearing black clothes even in the scorching heat because they do not know that it can be dangerous. Therefore, always keep in mind that wearing light coloured clothes like white, sky blue, light green, light pink etc. in summer can protect you from extreme heat.
. there is water but no salt
Dr. Chauhan says that it is advisable to drink more water in summer. People also feel that they drink more water in summer. Many people also drink more water as a precaution to keep the body hydrated but they forget one important thing and that is salt. In summer, along with water, it is also important to have sufficient amount of salt in the body because salt goes out of our body in the form of sweat. About half a liter of sweat comes out of our body every hour. Whereas when any exercise or hard work is done, the rate of sweating also increases to two to three liters per hour. Whereas in return, the amount of water or salt does not reach the body. Therefore, it is important to maintain a balance of salt in your diet along with water during heat waves.
. Ignoring thirst
Ignoring thirst is a common thing. Many people forget to drink water when they are busy with some work and after some time the thirst also subsides. People also ignore thirst because it is not very active like hunger. However, this habit not only causes dehydration in your body but also prepares you for heat stroke. Dr. Ajay says that always keep in mind that if you want to avoid heat exhaustion or heat stroke in summer, do not ignore thirst. On the contrary, drink water every half an hour or one hour even without being thirsty. Over hydrate yourself.
