New Delhi. It is only a few days since the month of April has started and the heat has started to wreak its havoc. The heat of summer is increasing with every day. At the same time, for today i.e. Sunday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert in Delhi, as there is a possibility of severe heat wave in the national capital. According to the IMD, Delhi recorded a temperature of 42.4 degrees Celsius on Saturday, the hottest day in five years.
Earlier, the maximum temperature in the national capital was recorded at 43.2 degree Celsius on April 21, 2017. The highest maximum temperature of the month was recorded on April 29, 1941 at 45.6 °C. The IMD said in its warning that this is the first time in 72 years that Delhi has recorded such a high temperature in the first week of April.
The maximum temperature recorded at Safdarjung monitoring station on Friday was 41.6 degrees Celsius. Similarly, Gurugram recorded a maximum temperature of 44.5 degrees Celsius, which was 10 degrees above the average. The highest ever recorded maximum temperature was 44.8 degree Celsius in Gurugram on April 28, 1979. On the other hand, Faridabad in Haryana recorded a maximum temperature of 45.2 degree Celsius.
