Honda has launched its new electric scooter U-GO. Produced at the Wuyang-Honda unit of China, this scooter has been launched in two variants. In which batteries of different power have been given. At present, it has been launched only in the Chinese market. But it can be launched in India soon.
Its starting price in China has been kept at CNY 7,499 (about Rs 85,342). The standard 1.2kW rating of the scooter is priced at CNY 7,999 (approximately Rs 91,501). Its price in the Chinese market is much lower than other e-scooters. When launched in India, it will compete with the Ola e-scooter.
U-GO’s low-speed model operates an 800-watt continuous hub motor, supporting a maximum power of 1.2 kW. Its top speed is 43 kmph. Its standard model will come with 1.2 kW continuous rated hub motor. This motor can deliver a maximum power of 1.8 kW. The top speed of this version is 53 kmph. Both the models will come with 48V and 30Ah removable lithium-ion batteries with a capacity of 1.44 kWh. It can last up to 65 km on a single charge and up to 130 km on both the batteries.
The scooter has an LCD screen, which gives information like speed, distance, charge and riding mode. Its front apron is provided with LED headlights with triple beam. It also includes a strip of LED DRLs. It gets 26-litre under-seat storage along with 12-inch rear alloy wheels.
