Panaji. Goa is famous throughout the country for its cashew nuts. Tourists visiting here also visit cashew plantations. Everything was going normal in the cashew plantation located in a village in North Goa district till Monday evening. Then there was a very loud explosion, which stunned everyone. This explosion was so strong that its sound was heard up to 4 kilometers away. There were no casualties in this blast, but it caused cracks in many nearby houses.
The officer said that after the incident that took place in Ansolem village on Monday evening, the entire area was sealed. He said that a forensic team along with explosives experts reached the spot on Tuesday morning. The owner of this garden has been arrested.
The explosion was heard up to 4 KM away.
Police said that according to preliminary investigation, gelatin sticks kept in a warehouse of a private cashew plantation in Ansolem village exploded around 8 pm on Monday night. A police official said there were no casualties in the incident but the blast caused cracks in several houses around the garden and the structure where the explosives were kept collapsed. He said that the sound of the explosion was heard even up to Valpoi town, located about four kilometers away. He said that at the time of the incident, a large number of people were participating in the Shim Parade in Valpoi town.

Valpoi police arrested Naseer Hussain Jamdar on Monday night after the explosion in a cashew plantation owned by him in Ansolem village of Bhironda panchayat in North Goa’s Sattari taluka, the official said. He said that a case has been registered against the accused under sections 436, 427 and 286 of the Indian Penal Code and provisions of the Explosive Substances Act.
Cracks appeared in houses up to 2-3 KM away.
The officer said, ‘The structure in which the explosives were kept collapsed completely. The impact of the explosion was so strong that cracks appeared in houses located two-three kilometers away. Police said that it is being investigated how such a large quantity of explosives was purchased.

A senior police officer said that gelatin explosives were being used in stone crusher plants located in the surrounding areas. Local MLA Devia Rane said in a post on social media platform ‘X’ that an FIR will be lodged against the culprits. Rane said in the post on Monday night, ‘People are informed that we have received information about an explosion in Ansolem village of Bhironda Panchayat. There is no report of any casualty at the spot. He said, ‘An FIR will be registered under the Explosive Substances Act and a thorough investigation is being conducted. Strict action will be taken once the investigation is completed.
