The Aam Aadmi Party, which is looking for political ground in South India, has now joined hands with Twenty20 in Kerala. On Sunday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced the People’s Welfare Alliance (PWA). Now the question is, how successful will this campaign of AAP be amidst the presence of CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF), Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF)? Let’s understand the situation in detail…
Kejriwal has decided to do politics in Kerala with Twenty20, the CSR wing of KITEX. The announcement of the alliance between the two parties took place at the party headquarters in Kizhakambalam. During this, the Chief Coordinator of Twenty20 Sabu M Jacob was also present. It is being said that AAP, which is in power in Delhi and Punjab, will have to depend entirely on Twenty20 in the state.
How is the condition of Twenty20
The party governs four village panchayats in Kerala. Twenty20 started its assembly election journey in 2021 from some areas of Ernakulam. During that time the party was accused of being a B-team of the CPI(M). However, the party managed to register a presence during that time and came third in 6 out of the 8 constituencies contested. Also, Twenty20 was successful in pushing the BJP to the fourth position in these areas.
According to the Indian Express report, the party was successful in garnering votes due to the work done by the CSR of KITEX. Apart from this, the party also emerged as a good option for the non-political voters and middle class trying to look beyond traditional political parties.

At present, AAP is yet to register its presence in Kerala even at the gram panchayat level. The party had started the Kerala unit in 2014 and fielded candidates in some Lok Sabha seats during that time. According to the report, the party is yet to develop a good leadership and political agenda in the state, which differentiates it from other political parties.
Look at another picture, you will have to rely heavily on Twenty20 in the state. According to the report, the biggest challenge facing the PWA, at least for now, is its survival. Twenty20 is also confined to a few panchayats in Ernakulam district.
