In today’s time everyone is connected with each other through WhatsApp. Not only important conversations take place on this app, but important documents, files, audio-video-images of many people are also there. Many people use it for their office work, while many people use it for school/college. If you have accidentally deleted some of your important WhatsApp messages, don’t panic. There is a way to restore deleted WhatsApp chats. You just need to follow a few simple steps and then you can get back all your deleted WhatsApp conversations. Let us tell you that these deleted WhatsApp chats can be recovered with the help of Google Drive or device backup. To restore the chat, WhatsApp users can follow the steps given below.
How to restore deleted WhatsApp chats:
Your WhatsApp account must have the backup option enabled before starting the process. The instant messaging platform allows users to backup chat once a day, once a week or once a month. It is better to back up WhatsApp chats/messages every day. To restore deleted chats, all you need to do is enable the feature and select the backup option that suits you best.
Here is the step-by-step process:
Step 1: Log in with your Google Account on your device.
Step 2: Next, login to your WhatsApp account again using the 10 digit mobile number.
Step 3: Once you log in, WhatsApp will show a prompt to recover your chat history from Google Drive.
Step 4: Click on ‘Restore’ option and ‘Next’ to back up old chats.
Step 5: Before backing up chats, connect your phone to a stable WiFi network.
In case your chat history is not stored in Google Drive, WhatsApp also provides an option to back up messages from local storage. However, it should be noted that this option will not work on newer phones.
How to restore WhatsApp chats from local storage:
Step 1: Go to your phone’s file manager.
Step 2: Go to the WhatsApp folder, which is usually located in the Internal Storage section.
Step 3: Select Database there.
Step 4: There you will find the backup of all your chats.
To back up old chats, you need to uninstall WhatsApp and reinstall it. Then log in with your mobile number and click on ‘Recover’ option. Next, select the chosen database folder and rename it to msgstore.db.crypt12 to recover chat backup from a later date. Make sure the crypt extension should not change.
It should be noted that WhatsApp does not save conversations on its servers. It generates a database on Google Drive or your device’s internal storage. These can be used later to restore accidentally deleted chats.
