Vijayanagar, (Karnataka). Karnataka Home Minister Araga Gyanendra on Sunday termed the Hubballi violence as a “planned conspiracy” and said those who take law into their own hands will not be spared. The violence started when a youth shared a controversial post on WhatsApp. The security forces have brought the situation under control. Many people, including the accused who shared the post, have been arrested in this connection.
No matter what religion they belong to, there is no question of sparing anyone for indulging in violence. He said that it was initially being seen as a well-planned conspiracy.
“As per the information I have received, piles of stones were deposited before the violence. One PSI has been seriously injured and admitted to the hospital, while the others have sustained injuries,” he said.
He said that a similar incident of violence happened with DJ of Bengaluru. Happened in Halli. Crowds gathered in front of the police station, people torched police vehicles and even the house of the sitting MLA. After a youth shared an objectionable post that hurt religious sentiments, DJ Violence broke out in Halli.
Curfew in Hubli has been extended till April 20 and pro-Army forces along with state reserve forces have been called in to control the situation. Though the police have brought the violence under control, the situation in the city is still unstable, according to sources.
