The premium hatchback segment of the country is updating rapidly, recently Maruti Suzuki has launched the new facelift model of Baleno. At the same time, Tata Motors is also preparing to launch its Altroz with a new DCA gearbox. Now South Korea’s leading automaker Hyundai is launching an updated model of its premium hatchback car Hyundai i20 in the Indian market. The news is coming that the company will introduce features like electric sunroof and cruise control in this car by including it in the lower variants.
According to the report published in Rushlane, its details have been leaked on the internet before the launch of this car. As per reports, the Korean carmaker has made some changes in the new i20 which includes some new features. Also, some features and variants have also been dropped from the i20 lineup. For instance, the Asta trim will not be available with the 1.2-litre petrol IVT automatic unit and the 1.0-litre turbo petrol DCT automatic.

These variants have been replaced with a top-spec Asta (O) trim which is available only in manual transmission variants as of now. As far as feature updates are concerned, the i20 lineup has seen some creature comforts added or upgraded. For starters, the base Magna trim will get wheel covers that now come with a gunmetal finish instead of the silver one.
The mid-spec Sportz trim now gets automatic climate control, which was earlier available with the manual air conditioner. Even cruise control has been added to the Sportz trim. The Asta trim gets cruise control as well as an electric sunroof. The top-spec Asta (Optional) trim will now come with voice activated commands for BlueLink connected car technology.

Hyundai has added six new voice-related commands for connected car features including a welcome message, contact information, new Sport Edition (soccer), sunroof control, driver window control and navigation help. Apart from this, some features have also been removed from this package. The Asta trim is no longer equipped with BlueLink connected car technology. In addition to this, the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system has been replaced with a base 8-inch unit. Apart from this, no further updates have been done to the i20, its design remains the same.
As we mentioned, there is no change in its mechanism, this car comes with 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol, 1.0L turbocharged petrol, 1.5L diesel engine as before. While the 1.2-litre petrol engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual and CVT gearbox, the 1.0-litre engine is mated to a 6-speed iMT clutchless manual and a 7-speed DCT gearbox. The diesel engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission gearbox.
