He said that whatever recognition I have got is from the people of Nagpur… There are differences between husbands and wives, families, political parties… In the last ten years, if I have ever faced any discrimination in work or injustice to Dalits and Muslims. If yes, then there is no need for me to vote. If I have worked honestly, please vote for me. Nitin Gadkari gave this speech on Wednesday before the end of the campaign for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections.

Nagpur, one of the 48 parliamentary constituencies of Maharashtra, will vote in the first phase of Lok Sabha elections on April 19. There will be a contest on this seat between senior BJP leader Nitin Gadkari and Vikas Thackeray, who is currently the MLA of Nagpur West. Nitin Gadkari won the 2019 Lok Sabha elections with a huge vote share of 55.7 percent. He defeated current Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole by a margin of 2,16,009 votes. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections also, Gadkari defeated Congress leader Vilas Muttemwar by a margin of 2,84,828 votes.
Maharashtra has 48 Lok Sabha seats, which is the second largest after Uttar Pradesh. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP won 23 of the 25 seats it contested in alliance with the undivided Shiv Sena. Elections for 48 Lok Sabha seats of Maharashtra will be held in five phases on 19 April, 26 April, 7 May, 13 May and 20 May.
