Ponting said in the ICC podcast, ‘I have spent seven seasons with the Delhi team. During this time we unfortunately did not work the way I wanted and certainly not the way the franchise would have wanted. I was trying to get the team the title and it did not happen.’ Ponting said that Delhi Capitals may be looking for a player who can give more time to the franchise even after the season.

Ponting will not join the England team
According to Ponting, ‘This franchise is trying to make an Indian the head coach. They are looking for a coach who can give them time even after the season.’ There were reports that Ricky Ponting could be made the coach of white ball cricket by the England and Wales Cricket Board, but this Australian legend has completely rejected it. When Ponting was asked about joining the England team, he said that he would not consider it.
