New Delhi. Election strategist Prashant Kishor today credited the BJP for focusing the election debate on winning 370 seats in the Lok Sabha rather than crossing the halfway mark. However, failure to achieve that target could disappoint the stock market, Kishor said in an exclusive interview to NDTV. Election strategist Prashant Kishor said, “When expectations are very high from a company and they do not live up to it despite performing well, the stock market punishes them. From this perspective, if the BJP gets less than 370 seats, it can become a topic of discussion. Its effect can also be seen on the market.”
Prashant Kishor worked with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP during the 2014 elections. He has predicted the victory of the ruling party in the current elections. He also described BJP’s target of 370 seats as a ‘smart’ step, which has benefited them in changing the electoral discourse. The election strategist said that ‘in the last three-four months, the discussion has been centered around ‘370’ and ‘crossing 400’. Consider it the strategy of BJP or the weakness of the opposition, but BJP has completely shifted the goal post from 272 to 370. BJP has benefited from this. Now, no one is saying that Modi ji will lose, they are saying that he will not get 370 seats.

However, Prashant Kishor said that even if the BJP gets 320 seats (or any figure less than the expectation of crossing the 370 mark), the saffron party will form the government. It is noteworthy that in the 543-seat Lok Sabha, 272 seats are half the figure. Which any party or alliance will have to overcome to form the government at the Centre.
