Islamabad. Former Pakistan Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has warned that if former Prime Minister Imran Khan is arrested, the situation in the country will be like Sri Lanka, which is going through the worst economic crisis at the moment. According to the Geo News report, Rasheed said that the present coalition government has become directionless and unable to handle the situation.
“The government should bring back Nawaz Sharif now,” he said.
Stating that the country would plunge into a political crisis and witness a Sri Lanka-like situation, Rashid told PTI that if Khan is arrested, PTI has already devised a strategy to deal with the situation.
According to a Geo News report, a coalition of parties that successfully brought down the PTI-led government through a no-confidence motion, Rasheed said that despite Khan’s removal, he has become a hero of the country.
Later, addressing a rally in Faisalabad, Rashid said that the country is going to become a defaulter soon, so state institutions should intervene.
“Shehbaz Sharif, you should address the nation and announce whether you are going to the International Monetary Fund or not,” he said. He said that the country has lost $6 billion within a month.
