At present, the country is battling the third wave of Corona. With every passing, the number of corona infected cases is increasing in the country. Now amidst the increasing infected cases of Corona and Omicron, the Indian Council of Medical Research has issued a big statement regarding the testing of COVID samples. According to the latest guidelines presented by the council, the person who came in contact with the COVID patients needs testing only after extreme need. They do not need testing unless they are identified as high risk based on age or comorbidities.
Let us tell you that according to the statement submitted by ICMR, there is no need to test the patients discharged after home isolation or the patients who are discharged from the COVID-19 facility. Also, ICMR said that those who are suffering from symptoms like cough, fever, sore throat or loss of taste or smell and other covid symptoms need to be tested. Along with this, it has also been said that persons who are above 60 years of age or who have diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure, lung or kidney disease etc., also need to be tested. On the other hand, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research, 13.52 lakh samples were tested across the country on Sunday. Since the beginning of the epidemic in the country, more than 69.16 crore samples have been tested so far. Also, the institution said that no emergency procedure should be delayed by the hospital for lack of testing. Keeping this in mind, the Union Health Ministry has written a letter to the states and union territories saying that if required, Corona Vaccination Centers can be opened till 10 pm.
Talking about the corona infected cases, in the last 24 hours, 1,79,723 new cases have been reported across the country. With yesterday’s cases, the total number of cases in the country has gone up to 3,57,07,727. Also, the number of active corona infected cases at present is 7,23,619. With the death of 146 people due to corona in the last 24 hours, 4,83,936 people have died due to corona in the country so far. In the last 24 hours, 46,569 people were cured and with this 3,45,00,172 people have been cured so far. Total vaccination figures are 1,51,94,05,951.
