If you use this app of Google, then you need to be a little careful. In fact, the Google Messages app is heating up the smartphone and draining the battery because it is leaving the camera on. According to a report by 9to5Google, several Google Messages app users have complained about this new bug on Reddit. As per reports, when a user tries to quickly click a picture within the app to share it with other users, the app leaves the camera on.
For those unaware, the Google Messages app allows users to share an image from the gallery or use the live feed from the smartphone’s camera to share a quick snapshot. As per the report, the new bug sometimes leaves the camera feed running even when it is not displayed on the screen. The report further suggests that the camera remains on even when the Google Messages app is in the background, resulting in overheating and significant battery drain.
Users were able to spot this new bug in Android 12 through the privacy indication. These indications tell you that an app is using certain sensors on your smartphone. This feature shows a pop-up at the top of the screen whenever an application is using the camera or microphone. It’s worth noting that Android 12 only shows you alerts when the app is accessing the camera or microphone in the background.
Reports suggest that you can block the Google Messages app from accessing your camera in the background. If that doesn’t work, reports suggest that you should turn off the camera permission for the app until Google fixes the bug. You’ll need to change some of your phone’s settings for this: You can view and change the permissions you’ve given by tapping on Settings > Apps & notifications > Apps.
