Imran is in jail
Imran Khan has been in jail since August last year. Many cases are registered against him, including corruption and violation of the Official Secrets Act. The PTI founder was responding to a question related to the press conference of the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Tuesday. The ISPR Director General had demanded an apology from those involved in the May 9 violent protests and an end to the politics of anarchy before any talks could be held. The chief military spokesperson had also ruled out any talks with those who attacked military installations. He had also said that the accused of May 9 would be punished as per the Constitution and law. Referring to ISPR Director General’s statement apologizing, the ousted Prime Minister said, “If you don’t want to talk then don’t. I am asking you to talk for the sake of Pakistan.” There is no interest in making any ‘deal’ nor does he want to flee the country.
Imran supporters had committed violence
Khan was arrested in a corruption case on May 9 last year, after which supporters of his party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf got angry and caused huge damage to many government establishments in the country. Following cricketer-turned-politician Khan’s arrest in a corruption case, his party workers had vandalized a dozen military installations, including Jinnah House (Lahore Corps Commander’s House), Mianwali Airbase and the ISI Bhawan located in Faisalabad. The Army Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi was attacked by the mob for the first time. (Language)
