All three terrorists were killed in an encounter that took place on Friday in the Berar Aragam area of Bandipora in Jammu and Kashmir. According to sources, two of these three terrorists were involved in the attack on Kashmiri Pandit Rahul Bhat on Thursday.
In fact, a terrorist was killed in an encounter between security forces and terrorists in Salinder forest area of Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. Two others had escaped. According to the Inspector General of Police in Kashmir, the information about the two terrorists who escaped on Wednesday came to light in the Berar area on Friday. After which the security forces cordoned off the Berar area and launched a search operation to nab the terrorists. Three terrorists have been killed in this special operation.
It has been learned from sources that the two terrorists killed in the special operation are the ones who killed Kashmiri Pandit Rahul Bhat. Although it has not been officially confirmed.
Significantly, after the killing of Kashmiri Pandit Rahul Bhat on May 12, people are angry in the Valley. Kashmiri Pandits first blocked the Jammu-Srinagar highway on Thursday and then demonstrated against the LG administration on Friday. During this, the policemen also clashed with the protesters. The police had to lathi-charge and use tear gas to disperse the crowd.
Earlier in the day, the body of Rahul Bhat reached his home and the last rites were performed in the presence of hundreds of Kashmiri Pandits including the family. The incident has raised concerns over the safety of Kashmiri Pandits living in the Valley. Members of the community, including Rahul Bhat’s family, have accused the BJP-led government at the Center of not providing adequate security for them.
