Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mevani got bail from the court on Monday, but was arrested within minutes in another case. Mevani MLA Angshuman Bora said that Mevani, MLA from Budgam in Gujarat, had got bail from the court in Kokrajhar district. But after some time the police of Barpeta district arrested him in another case. Rashtriya Dalit Adhikar Manch convener Jignesh Mevani had offered support to the Congress last year. He was arrested on Wednesday last week on the complaint of BJP leader Arup Kumar Dey.
Police had brought him after arresting him from Palanpur in Gujarat. Mevani was booked under sections 120B, section 259A for criminal conspiracy, section 153A on charges of causing enmity, section 504 and 506 on charges of insulting anyone with intent to provoke breach of the peace. Apart from this, these allegations were made against him for the tweet post, so a case was also registered under the IT Act. He was produced in the court by the police and then the court ordered to send him to judicial custody for three days.
Now the police of Barpeta district has arrested
At present, the police of Barpeta district of Assam has arrested him. However, it has not been given by the police whether he has been arrested or what are the charges against him. Earlier, Kokrajhar police officials also did not talk about why Mevani was arrested and what are the charges against him. It is worth noting that some people are also raising questions on the arrest of Mevani by the Assam Police. Jignesh Mevani is recognized for raising issues related to Dalit communities across the country.

Jignesh Mevani was arrested in connection with a tweet against PM Narendra Modi. In his tweet, he made an objectionable claim and wrote that Prime Minister Modi considers Godse to be God. Mevani was taken by police to Kokrajhar via Guwahati and produced before the Judicial Magistrate’s court. He was sent to police custody for three days. Mevani was produced in the court late on Sunday evening. The arguments in the matter continued till late night. After this, the CJM court had reserved the decision.
