Pralaya missile is ready
The ballistic missile holocaust with a range of 150 to 500 km is ready. It has been made by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO). At the same time, production of long-range land-launched cruise missiles (LR-LACMs) and submarine-launched cruise missiles (SLCMs) will also begin in a few years. Top defense sources told our associate newspaper The Times of India (ToI) that these missiles will be capable of hitting targets 1,000 km away. Part of a fleet of Pralay surface-to-surface missiles and subsonic LR-LACM, BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles, Pinaka Multi Rocket System and other ready-to-attack weapons Will be By combining these, a new Integrated Rocket Force (IRF) will be created under the theater commands formed from the three services.
Air Force will get 120, Army will get 250 holocaust missiles
The Defense Acquisition Council (DAC) headed by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has already given initial approval to the IAF to buy 120 Pralay missiles. After that 250 Pralay missiles will also be purchased for the Army. “All such missile and rocket systems of the Army, Navy and Air Force will be integrated under the IRF for better command and control,” said a source. It is especially needed for our northern borders with China.
IRF and SFC will remain intact
India plans to retain the Integrated Rocket Force (IRF) and the Strategic Forces Command (SFC). They were created in 2003 for the management of the treasury of nuclear weapons. Therefore, the SFC itself is the nuclear capable Prithvi- 2 (350 km range), Shaurya (750 km range), Agni 1 (700 km range), Agni 2 (2,000 km range), Agni 3 (3,000 km range), Agni 4 ( 4,000 km range) and Agni 5 (over 5,000 km range) ballistic missiles and nuclear-capable submarines as well as warplanes capable of dropping nuclear gravity bombs. China also has a large stockpile of ground-launched nuclear missiles and conventional ballistic missiles. All of them are under its People’s Liberation Army (PLA) which has about 40 brigades.
Changed policy of ballistic missiles
With the induction of the Pralay missile into the fleet, India has abandoned the policy of using ballistic missiles only for firing nuclear weapons. The source said, ‘Till now the ballistic missile used to mean a missile carrying nuclear weapons for India. But when both China and Pakistan have conventional as well as nuclear ballistic missiles.
Emphasis on light missiles
Integration of the ground-based missiles is to be completed in about a year. As per the plan, the SLCM is to be first tested on a Russian-built Sindhughosh class (Kilo-class) submarine. A source said that the range of these cheap subsonic missiles is more than BrahMos. Work is underway on the 800 km variant of BrahMos. However, the range of BrahMos has been increased from 290 km to 450 km. The initial design of BrahMos with smaller and lighter but equal firepower is ready. The source said, ‘Apart from the heavy-handed Sukhoi 30MKI, light combat aircraft will also be able to target the enemies with BrahMos.’
