IMD Weather Update: There is continuous scorching heat in many parts of the country. In many states the temperature has reached around 45. Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has said something that raises concerns. The Meteorological Department predicted on Wednesday that the heat wave will continue in eastern India for the next three days. It has issued a red alert for severe heat wave conditions for three days in Gangetic West Bengal and for two days in Odisha.
The Meteorological Department said that storm activities will be seen in South Peninsular India from May 4. There will be storm in states including Telangana, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. Maximum temperatures are likely to continue between 44-47 degrees Celsius over Gangetic West Bengal, East Jharkhand, North Odisha and Rayalaseema till May 3 and drop thereafter.

Severe heat conditions are likely at many places over Gangetic West Bengal, parts of Odisha, parts of Bihar and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Jharkhand on May 2. After May 2, the intensity of heat wave will reduce and heat wave conditions will persist in this area for the next 3 days. Heat wave conditions are likely to persist in Telangana, Interior Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam during the next 4 to 5 days.

According to Skymet Weather, there may be light rain and scattered snowfall in Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand during the next 24 hours. Light to moderate rain and snowfall is possible in Arunachal Pradesh. Light rain may occur at some places in Northeast India.
Light sporadic rain may occur in Kerala and southern Tamil Nadu. Heat wave conditions may occur at many places in Gangetic West Bengal and at some places in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Bihar and Saurashtra and Kutch. Heat wave conditions may occur in Jharkhand, Kerala, Konkan and parts of Goa and Rayalaseema.
