New Delhi. Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah has expressed his views on the increasing terrorist incidents in the region. He stressed the importance of dialogue in resolving the issue. Abdullah said that neighboring Pakistan is constantly taking provocative actions and alternative ways should be considered. He believes that a permanent solution cannot be achieved without meaningful discussion. The recent attacks in Kashmir have been very sad, in which innocent people have lost their lives. Farooq Abdullah asked why the results are not visible despite the actions taken. Along with this, he also said many things while comparing the Kashmir issue with the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
Abdullah’s call for dialogue is reminiscent of his previous statements in which he has stressed that terrorism persists in Jammu and Kashmir. He appealed to the central government to understand the root causes of terrorism and find solutions beyond military measures. Three attacks have taken place in the Valley in the last three days. On June 9, terrorists targeted a bus carrying pilgrims going to the Vaishno Devi shrine, resulting in the tragic death of nine people and injuries to 41 others. Security forces are conducting search operations to nab the culprits.
After the Reasi attack, terrorists struck again in Kathua on June 11. They opened fire on civilians, including those in their homes and on the streets. Security forces retaliated immediately and killed two terrorists. A massive search operation is being carried out to nab other terrorists.
