Great performance by Indian women batsmen
Before this historic victory, India got an initial shock after winning the toss and batting first and scored 116 runs losing 7 wickets. The initial innings of the Indian team was not as expected, Shafali Verma was out on a modest individual score of 9 runs. After Verma’s departure, Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues took over the responsibility and formed a vital partnership. Mandhana made a vital contribution and scored 46 runs before being out for 89 runs. However, after Mandhana’s dismissal, the Indian team had to face a challenging phase. Richa Ghosh managed to score 9 runs, captain Harmanpreet Kaur managed to score 2 runs and Pooja Vastrakar also got out after scoring 2 runs. Jemimah Rodrigues, batting at the other end, also lost her wicket in an attempt to play a big shot in the last over and ended her innings with 42 runs.
