Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Thursday appointed All India Congress Committee (AICC) spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi as a member of the Congress Working Committee (CWC), the party’s highest decision-making body, along with a few other names. Singhvi spoke on many burning issues during an interview with The Indian Express, let us tell you what the Congress leader said in this interview?
How do you feel watching your rise as a CWC member?
Responding to this question, Singhvi said, “It is undoubtedly a matter of great honour, privilege and happiness. Personally, I thank this supreme decision-making group of Congress. Responding to a question on the presidential election, he said, there is a feeling that there is a lack of imagination in the opposition regarding the presidential election. Congress is the main opposition party. Other parties agreed to come up with names which had wide acceptance.
Singhvi said, there cannot be a “Ekla Chalo” model on the Presidential election. I do not agree with this formulation at all because first of all, the paramount consideration should be consensus. Secondly Gopal Krishna Gandhi was our choice five years ago and this time again at the fore. No one can be blamed if they have refused for some reason. Yashwant Sinha is a very experienced and powerful name and has the ability to expose BJP. Singhvi said, I am not speaking this to disrespect the Presidential candidate of NDA. He has every right to campaign vigorously and claim the presidency.
The Congress has been accusing the government of misusing the agency over the interrogation of Rahul Gandhi by the ED. The party has termed the ED summons as ‘illegal’. Then why did the party not approach the court or take legal recourse?
It is totally wrong to suggest that for 55 hours in 5 days or “detention through interrogation” can be attacked only by going to court. The whole point is that there is nothing to go to court. ED’s never-ending questioning of Rahul Gandhi was only aimed at harassing, insulting and heaping political motives on him. Surely Rahul Gandhi could have sought anticipatory bail, but we had decided not to do so. Because how can ED act in a wrong way by first spoiling the case and then throw the ball in our court saying that we should seek legal for their wrong behavior.
Will Congress President Sonia Gandhi appear for ED’s questioning once she is fully recovered?
I can personally tell you that when Sonia Gandhi was first summoned for questioning, in the initial phase she found it difficult to stop even after being Covid positive. Sonia Gandhi is ready to answer the questions of the ED, she stopped because of the medical report and now as soon as she is declared fit in the medical report, she will answer the questions of the ED immediately. However, in first aid and on medical advice, it will go away immediately. However, the primary caution says that we should avoid the infected person tells us to avoid contact with collateral infections especially in their age and that is why time has been sought for them.
How do you see the Maharashtra political crisis from a legal point of view?
First, let me briefly describe the political part of it, of course it is a storm that should have been partially prevented. But one should not ignore the despicable immoral conduct of BJP. Luxury buses, 3 or 4 jets, trans-Indian coverage from Surat to Guwahati and over 70 rooms in luxury hotels and resorts don’t come cheap. The police of BJP ruled states have given security to all the BJP leaders who are visible in the camera. We now know how to use 90% of the electoral bond money that officially goes to the ruling party.
Now I legally tell about it,
1-There are limited options for it in all the places because all of them first and foremost depends on the number of MLAs. However, any Chief Minister can first recommend the dissolution of (Assembly) subject to the caveat that the Governor is not bound to accept that recommendation. If there is enough material to show that the recommendation is based on minority support.
2- If any group claims this, then the governor has the right to order a floor test and on the evidence given to the governor, it is found that the incumbent does not have the number. Third, the anti-defection law is explicitly enforced but unfortunately takes time.
3- Thus, in a suitably constituted complaint with sufficient natural justice to be heard, the Speaker or the Vice-Chairman shall be fully entitled to disqualify those persons who, having regard to the gap of time, are practically liable to do any work. of cannot be.
4- Have found a way to become a minister once again with a time gap of six months after making an artificial cut in the total voting pool and then toppling the government through such illegal and fraudulent means.
5- If somehow Uddhav Thackeray gets the numbers at the last minute, he himself is entitled to call for the trust vote. Unfortunately, the Congress remains an outsider in all of this, but is a clear supporter of Uddhav Thackeray.
Yesterday, Thackeray reportedly said that Shiv Sena has not given up on Hindutva. Congress has taken a very strong stand against Hindutva and often attacks BJP over it. How do you reconcile these things…?
On the contrary, I believe that the Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA alliance) has agreed upon the essential views of Hinduism at the center of logic, Singhvi said. Aghadi is absolutely right to say that it is a brand of Hinduism which is true Hinduism and not distorted for political gains. This means that many defects have been removed in the golden medium adopted by Aghadi.
The internal election process of Congress is going on. Will the elections be held on time and will Rahul Gandhi return as Congress President?
Of course elections will be held on time and everyone is free to stand as a candidate. We too should respectfully await the results of this election and the aftermath. The critics will wait for the judgment day, meanwhile they will keep creating negative scenarios as the script does not suit them. There is hardly a few months to wait and so we all should wait to eat the pudding before preaching.
You are also the Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home. The committee is traveling to the Northeast. What is on its agenda?
I am equally privileged to be the chairperson of the Parliamentary Standing Committee, not only because it is a very important committee, but because the wide range of issues ranging from the Northeast to national security to a huge contingent of paramilitary forces have been sent to it. Detail included. Important topics of centre-state relations and federalism. On these issues we have already started discussions on infiltration and security and border security in the Northeast. We have already investigated CRPF and ITBP. Actually, the trip to Northeast was already scheduled and was scheduled to take off from 25th to 30th but was postponed due to severe floods and landslides and some other difficulties.
In the end, Kapil Sibal, one of the key leaders of the G-23, has left the Congress and some leaders of the group have been removed. How do you view the development and activities of the dissident or reformist group?
In response, he said, as Sibal rightly refused to comment on the Congress, the latter should also give an equally correct answer. As far as your larger question on G-23 is concerned, I believe that the primary justification for such a grouping can only be suggestions for improvement, which have been discussed intensively for more than three days at the Udaipur camp. done. With elections around the corner, I think every legitimate demand of this G-23 has either been fulfilled or is about to be fulfilled.
