On Saturday (21 May 2022) in Alappuzha city of Kerala, the Islamic organization ‘Popular Front of India’ organized a protest march under the ‘Save the Republic’ campaign. A video of this PFI march is going viral on social media, in which a minor child is seen raising provocative slogans against Hindus and Christians.
Taking cognizance of the viral video, Kerala Police has started investigation in the matter. Hindu organizations have alleged that ‘Popular Front of India’ is using minor children to spread hatred in the society and spoil the atmosphere of the country. In the viral video, a child is raising slogans while sitting on his father’s shoulder.
Raising the slogan, the child is saying, “Hindus should keep rice for their last rites and Christians should keep scented incense, incense sticks for their last rites. If you live decently you can live on our land and if you don’t live well then we know how to take freedom. Live decently.” It is being told that PFI National President Oma Abdul Salam was also present in this Protest March.
Priyank Kanungo, head of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, said, “Involving children in such activities is against the Juvenile Justice Act. We are writing to the concerned district to register an FIR. Strict action should be taken in this matter. It is a cognizable offence.”
After the video surfaced, PFI spokesperson Rauf Pattambi said, “Many people raised slogans against Hindutva terrorism. This boy also raised slogans. We regret a few lines of slogans and we will look into it. Their slogans were not against Hindus or Christians, but against Hindutva terrorists planning the massacre.” “No media covered the main slogan of our program ‘protect the republic’,” he said. Alappuzha police is currently investigating the matter.
