The Election Commission has made preparations to crack down on fake political parties. It is being told that the Election Commission has taken action on 111 such political parties, which are registered but their party does not have electoral recognition. Along with this, more than 2100 parties are on the radar of the commission. Regarding these 2100 parties, the Election Commission said that these political parties have violated many mandatory rules, including non-submission of donation reports, information about change of name, headquarters office bearers and address.
Order to remove parties: It was told by the Election Commission that initially 111 registered and unrecognized parties have been ordered to be removed. Earlier on May 25, the Election Commission had removed 87 registered but unrecognized parties. The Election Commission says that more than 2,100 parties across the country have been identified for violating the rules. These include political parties from Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Gujarat to Madhya Pradesh.
According to the information, this entire proceedings of the Election Commission are being done under the supervision of the new Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar. Sources associated with the Election Commission said that registered but unrecognized political parties are formed only to take advantage of Section 13A of Income Tax. Investigation has found that most of these parties have also been involved in illegal activities.
Tax exemption for political parties: Under Section 13A of Income Tax, all political parties in the country get income tax exemption. Along with this, the donors also get income tax exemption on the amount provided under section 80GGB and 80GGC of Income Tax.
According to a report till date, most of the political parties that have been removed by the Election Commission did not follow the prescribed procedure in the annual audit accounts. Along with this, the details of many important things like expenditure information and cash flow statement etc. were not there and the complete details of the donors were also not filled clearly.
