A decision can be taken on the Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens (Amendment) Bill, 2019
The central government is going to bring a new rule for the care of parents and elders. Actually, a decision can be taken on the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens (Amendment) Bill 2019 in the monsoon session.
Let us tell you that the monsoon session of Parliament has started from Monday itself. The Central Government wants to take up this bill at the beginning of the monsoon session on the long-wanted agenda of the Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens (Amendment) Bill, 2019. The purpose of this bill is to motivate people to keep parents and senior citizens with them. Provision has been made in the Bill to ensure basic needs, safety and security of parents and senior citizens along with their maintenance and welfare. This provision, which came in the wake of two devastating waves of the Kovid-19 pandemic in the country, will give more power to senior citizens and parents if passed by Parliament in the monsoon session. Many changes have been made before this bill is introduced in Parliament.
Know important information related to this rule-
The Parents and Senior Citizens Welfare Bill or the Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Bill Cabinet has expanded the scope of children in December 2019. This includes children, grandchildren (does not include those below the age of 18 years). Step-children, adopted children and legal guardians of minor children have also been included in this bill.
If the bill becomes law, the parents will have to pay Rs 10,000 as maintenance. The government has fixed this amount keeping in mind the standard of living and age of the parents.
The law also includes biological children, adopted children and stepchildren.
The time for maintenance payment has also been reduced from 30 days to 15 days.
