Recently Congress’s Chintan Shivir was organized in Udaipur, Rajasthan, in which prominent leaders of the party participated. In this contemplation camp, the demand for making Congress MP Rahul Gandhi the President of the party once again gained momentum. Many party leaders lobbied to make Rahul Gandhi the president. Meanwhile, Acharya Pramod Krishnam made a ‘suggestion’ which went down well with the party’s general secretary Priyanka Gandhi and in anger she gestured to Deepender Hooda to silence Krishnam.
Mallikarjun Kharge also told Acharya Pramod Krishnam that junior members are not expected to speak like this. Vadra later reprimanded Krishnam in front of several members. Priyanka angrily accused him of behaving like her political ‘advisor’ when no one had given her any such authority. Actually, Pramod Krishnam had said that if Rahul Gandhi does not want to become the president of the party, then why is Priyanka Gandhi not given this responsibility. In the Udaipur meeting, the G-23 members remained silent on most of the occasions.
There was also a stir in the political corridors regarding the Chintan Shivir. Several issues were discussed to strengthen the organization in the three-day Chintan Shivir of Congress in Udaipur. However, the discussion of not inviting many leaders, Congress-ruled state ministers, PCC working presidents and national spokespersons to this camp was also in full swing. Hardik Patel was invited to attend this Chintan Shivir but he did not reach Udaipur and after that he also resigned from the primary membership of the party.
Sunil Jakhar, the former president of the party’s Punjab unit, also resigned and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. In the last few months, many leaders considered close to Rahul Gandhi have left the party, after which the party seems to be worried about this ‘stampede’.
