The Delhi High Court, while hearing the petition of an unmarried woman, has said that it cannot allow the murder of an unborn child. After birth, a woman can give her child for adoption.
In fact, in the Delhi High Court, a 25-year-old unmarried woman had sought permission to abort her 24-week-old pride. Hearing this petition, the High Court refused to allow abortion. Suggesting the woman, a bench headed by Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma said that there is a long line of adopters in the country. After delivery, give the child for adoption.
The judge said- “They are not forcing the woman to bear the child. Will ensure that she goes to a good hospital for delivery. He will not know. You give birth and come back.”
He said that if the government does not pay the cost of child birth, then he is ready to help. The court said that the woman has completed 24 weeks of pregnancy by 36 weeks. In such a situation, allowing abortion would be tantamount to feticide.
During the hearing, the woman’s lawyer said that the woman is very upset as she is unmarried. The counsel cited the mental agony of the woman and said that she was pregnant for more than 23 weeks. He said that the petitioner is not physically, mentally or financially fit to raise the child. The lawyer said it would cause him mental trauma and social stigma.
Let us tell you that according to the law of the country, after the advice of the doctor, an unwanted pregnancy of a few weeks can be aborted. In some special circumstances – such as rape, this time limit is up to 24 weeks. However, for this also the permission of the doctor is necessary.
