Announced to make India a super power in the energy sector by 2047
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced the National Hydrogen Mission on the occasion of 75th Independence Day. The Prime Minister also said that India will have to take a pledge to become independent in the field of energy 100 years before independence. PM Modi said that the country has to spend more than Rs 12 lakh crore every year to meet its energy needs. Clearly, India imports about 85 percent of its total petroleum and other energy needs. In the case of natural gas, more than half of the requirement comes from foreign supplies.
India has so far used two types of technology to make hydrogen gas. One of these methods is the separation of water from hydrogen by electrolysis. That is, the car will be able to run with hydrogen made with the help of water. However, this method will only be possible for cars that support hydrogen gas fuel. The second method is to separate hydrogen and carbon from natural gas. The hydrogen obtained from this is used as fuel.
The Prime Minister said the Prime Minister’s Mobility-National Master Plan will boost industrial activities as well as improve systems including airports, new roads and rail projects and create employment opportunities for the youth. PM Modi also announced to make India self-reliant in terms of energy by 2047.
