The Karnataka High Court has dismissed a plea seeking wearing of hijab in the college premises. In such a situation, the petitioner girl students have approached the Supreme Court against this decision. Yashpal Suvarna, senior BJP leader and vice-chairman of the Udupi Government Pre-University College Development Committee, has claimed that the girls who went to court were “traitors” and “members of a terrorist organisation”.
Explain that the High Court rejected the argument in support of Hijab that Hijab is a necessary religious practice. The court has said that the hijab is not an essential part of Islam. And students cannot refuse to wear school uniforms. Wearing hijab is not mandatory in schools.
In such a situation, senior BJP leader Yashpal Suvarna has called the girls anti-nationals to the girl students opposing this decision. He said, “The girls have once again proved that they are not students but members of a terrorist organization. By making a statement against the High Court’s decision, he has defied learned judges. His statement is contempt of court.”
Suvarna, national general secretary of BJP’s Other Backward Classes (OBC) Morcha, said, “What should we expect from them for the country, when these students are calling the verdict given by learned judges as politically motivated and against the law? They have only proved that they are anti-nationals.”
When the petitioner went to the Supreme Court against the decision of the Karnataka High Court on Hijab, the BJP leader said that at present the order of the High Court would have remained only till the state, but if the petition is filed in the Supreme Court, now the effect of this decision will be in the whole country. “We are sure that the Supreme Court will give a verdict which will be good for the entire country,” the BJP leader said.
Let us tell you that on Tuesday, the High Court had dismissed the petition seeking permission to wear the hijab with your uniform in the college premises. Which was opposed by the girls.
