AIMIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi had on Thursday offered ‘chadar’ and flowers to the tomb of Mughal ruler Aurangzeb. Akbaruddin Owaisi, brother of AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, had reached Aurangabad. During this, when he offered Chadar and flowers to Aurangzeb’s grave, the BJP started besieging Owaisi regarding this issue. Shiv Sena leader Chandrakant Khaire alleged that Akbaruddin was trying to create a political controversy. During a TV debate on the same issue, there was a heated argument between news anchor and Muslim scholar Shoaib Jamai.
During News18’s debate show ‘Aar Paar’ anchor Amish Devgan asked a Muslim scholar whether Akbaruddin Owaisi’s visit to Aurangzeb’s grave was okay? On this question, Shoaib Jamai said, “All the saga of the Mughals, Aurangzeb, all the praises written in this country have been written by upper caste Brahmin historians. No Muslim historian has written. Be it Aurangzeb, Babur or any other Mughal, Rajput family was closest to him. The brahmins were his advisors.”
Objecting to this, anchor Amish Devgan asked Shoaib Jamai, “Do you follow Aurangzeb or not? Tell me that much.” However, Shoaib Jamai further added, “Raghavendra Shukla is a historian who told that Aurangzeb issued a decree in 1959 that all the temples of Varanasi should be protected. Donate land for Bala-Chitrakoot… that Aurangzeb gave, donate land for the temple in Assam.. These things historians say, I am not saying that.”
On this, the news anchor told Shoaib Jamai, “The killer of Guru Tegh Bahadur was Aurangzeb, Aurangzeb used to burn every man’s thread. He imprisoned his father Shah Jahan for the throne, got his elder brothers murdered, did the jizya. After this the anchor asked Shoaib Jamai to say that the historians were wrong.
After Owaisi offered flowers to Aurangzeb’s grave, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut said that if he comes to Maharashtra and sits on Aurangzeb’s grave and offers Namaz, then it is a matter of challenging Maharashtra and this challenge is acceptable to us.
