US President Joe Biden on Tuesday said he is committed to making the US-India partnership “closest to us on earth”. On his part, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called it a ‘sharing of trust’. While the two leaders expressed confidence in the US investment promotion agreement signed on Monday.
The US President said, “Prime Minister Modi, together our country can and will do a lot. I am committed to making the US-India partnership the closest to us on earth. I am pleased that we have reached an agreement for the US Development Finance Corporation to continue important work in India, supporting vaccine production and clean energy initiatives. We are renewing the Indo-US Vaccine Action Program.
PM Modi lauded the strategic partnership with the US as a belief in the ‘true sense’. “Our common interests and values have strengthened this bond of trust between our two countries. Our people-to-people ties and strong economic cooperation make the India-US partnership unique. Our trade and investment ties are also growing steadily but they are below our potential.”
At the same time, before meeting PM Modi, US President Biden praised PM Modi fiercely. Praising PM Modi, he said, “PM Modi has done a great job in the corona epidemic, democracy is heavy on expansionism and Modi has proved this. He showed how democracy works.”
PM Modi also noted that the US and India “share similar views on the Indo-Pacific region and work to protect our shared concerns at the bilateral level as well as with like-minded countries.” He said the discussions held during the Quad meeting would accelerate “this positive momentum”. The PM said that technical cooperation between the two countries has increased and it is always a pleasure to meet US President Joe Biden.
