Senior Supreme Court Justice L Nageswara Rao is set to retire on June 7 and Friday was his last working day. After that he went on leave. But he made several revelations while addressing an event organized by the Supreme Court Bar Association. In the program, he said that he played a character in the film ‘Kaoon Apna Apna’. This film was a very famous film and many big stars including Dilip Kumar, Kader Khan, Sanjay Dutt worked in it.
At the event organized by the Supreme Court Bar Association, the Bar’s vice-president and senior advocate Pradeep Rai said Justice Rao was versatile and had acted in the film apart from being a Ranji level cricketer. Later in his address, Justice Nageswara Rao said that he was into theater in college and had a cousin who was a director and wanted him to do a role.
Justice Nageswara Rao said, “It was a small roll and it ended the case. I didn’t want to be an actor in the beginning. You all know that lawyers act in court. Judges do too. When there is some heat in the court, we try to make a compromise between two lawyers, sometimes by acting, sometimes by raising our voice and sometimes by slowing down, and trying to control the lawyers. So acting is a part of the profession.”
Justice Rao said, “I have been a member of the Bar Association for 22 years and your love and affection has made my job easy. Thank you all for giving me the opportunity to work better. Pointing to the lawyers, he said that that side is much better than this side and if I had got a chance, I would have stayed there for the rest of my life. I am also from this time and I hope that I can also live up to your expectations.
During this, he also apologized and said that we also have work pressure and we are not sannyasis. I know that I have spoken louder many times.
