RSS’s Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh Sunil Ambedkar had recently said that the truth of Kashi’s Gyanvapi Masjid should come out. There has been a demand from many parts of the Sangh that the Sangh should include the Kashi and Mathura dispute in its agenda like Ayodhya. However, historical documents show that Kashi was first mentioned in the Sangh’s agenda in 1959. But in 2003, more than 10 years after the Babri demolition, a resolution was passed to hand over Kashi, Mathura and Ayodhya back to the Hindus.
According to the news of the Indian Express, when the issue of taking back Hindu temples arose in 1959, only Kashi was mentioned in it. There was no discussion of Ayodhya then. In the meeting of the Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha, a resolution was passed regarding the mosques built by demolishing the temples. When the BJP was formed in 1980, the issue of converting 150 Dalit families from Meenakshipuram in Tamil Nadu to Muslims also arose. The union was very serious about it. In 1981, in the meeting of the All India Executive Board, a resolution was passed that Hindus should do away with caste based discrimination. This incident completely changed the Sangh’s approach towards Hindus.
Names like Ashok Singhal and Vinay Katiyar emerged during this period. These leaders who came out of the Sangh started uniting on the issue of Ayodhya by forming Vishwa Hindu Parishad. A resolution to liberate Ayodhya was also passed in 1984. Ram Janaki Rath Yatra was started on 25 September 1984. But this effort failed at the last moment when all the programs were canceled due to the assassination of the then PM Indira Gandhi. Kashi Mathura was also mentioned along with Ayodhya during the journey. But after that the Ayodhya movement intensified. But never in 2003 or later did the Sangh officially mention the Kashi or Mathura issue. The leaders kept giving statements all the time.
Keep in mind that the RSS has always been accused of being behind the disputed Babri demolition of Ayodhya. He fueled the Ram Mandir movement through the BJP, which resulted in the demolition of Babri on 6 December 1992. The Sangh has also been accused of fueling the Gyanvapi Masjid and Mathura dispute. Sangh leaders believe that even answering such questions is a way of establishing that issue. Therefore, as part of the Sangh strategy, it tries to keep itself away from such controversial questions. RSS describes itself as a cultural organization, whose work is to do cultural awakening in the country. For this he constantly strives.
