Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, recently in response to a question asked about the incidents of stone pelting after Friday prayers (in protest against Nupur Sharma’s controversial remarks on the Prophet) said that what is our special quality – education, learning Knowledge… we went away from it. If steps were taken in the direction of civilization, what was the first step? “The man who used abuse instead of stone was the first step towards civilization,” he said.
The Governor of Kerala spoke on many issues at the TV9 Global Summit. During this, when his reaction was sought on the incidents of stone pelting, he said, “I was noticing that stones are moving. If one had tried to understand the Qur’an with reading, it is said- evil and good can never be equal. Therefore, if someone does evil to you, then answer him with good. Then you will see that the one with whom there was enmity between you, he will become your closest friend.
Arif Md. Khan said that some people want to be hanged at the crossroads, what should be talked about such people. The anchor asked a question that in the community you come from, why do people with understanding like you appear in the minority? To this, the Governor of Kerala said, “Meri Kaum Toh Hindustani Hai. The British taught us this lesson and as a result this country was divided. Our community is one and we are Indians.” He said, “You can say sect why there is this problem in it? To be honest, the common man devotes his life to earning bread.”
If Asaduddin Owaisi and Arif Mohammad Khan are given a fight from a Muslim dominated area, who will win? To this question, he said, “I don’t know who will win but the areas I represent are Muslim dominated areas. A big leader had said that I cannot enter my area, but when I came after winning the election, he said that I have done a lot of work in my area. All this is printed in the newspaper.”
